It taught me things I never knew.

The Mormon church claims to be following Jesus Christ. After reading this book I have a new take. The Latter Day Saints were well researched by John Ankerberg and John Weldon. Now I know what Mormons believe, but I'll let you read this book and make up your own mind. When you are done you WILL have the facts. Unlike I've seen in any other book on this subject.

mormonism will not get you into heaven but,surrendering your life to christ will. watch the way mormons act,they have no empathy for their fellow person. their concept of self-reliance is simply an excuse for doing nothing for those who are down and out and suffering. the mormons base their lives on the book-''as a man thinketh''. the mormon will not believe in combat ptsd.he will say that the veteran is too lazy to work.this action denotes A COMPLETE LACK OF EMPATHY-WHICH IS THE DEFINITION OF EVIL. these people think they know it all and are highly judgemental.if you talk about BEING SAVED AND WASHED IN THE BLOOD,THEY WILL LAUGH YOU TO SCORN.stay away from these people at all costs.if they show up at your door call the police. they are not to be trusted in any way.keep your young kids away from them.----also,the mormons have never set up any SALVATION ARMY type of help for the down and out. rev. booth[thru his efforts] has fed the multitudes,doctored their bodies and brought millions to christ.the mormons put their money on wall street.joseph smith proved to be a false prophet. you are saved by the grace of god not of works lest any man should boast.the book of mormon can not change peoples lives.but people can take their bibles and change entire areas.-----praise the lord.the mormons will mock and ridicule you-but,if GOD be for you who can be against you.----praise the lord.------ richard-----ps who would turn away a disabled combat veteran fron help? only the devil.

Dreadful tome on "Mormonism"

Notwithstanding its title, and the claim the book will inform everyone of the false nature of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this book by John Ankerberg and John Weldon fails in all its criticisms of the Mormon faith.
For example, when it comes to Mormon doctrine, one of the charges is that the Mormon practice of baptism for the dead is a pagan practice. Granted, the Marcionites and Mandeans, viewed as heretical within CHristianity, especially after the council of Carthage in the late 4th century CE, practice such, as well as the Coptic Church in Egypt who are not "Orthodox" Christians as they reject the hypostatic union. However, the Greek of 1 Corinthians 15:29 is clearly conducive to the Latter-day Saint practice. The Greek, unlike some translations into English, does not use the pronoun "they," but a present passive participle, "the ones being baptised," with Paul clearly only referring to Christian baptism, unless he directly said otherwise, which he did not. Moreover, the Shephard of Hermas, a text accepted as inspirational, though not canonical, in the Muratorian Canon in the early 2nd century CE, clearly supports the practice. In addition, Justin Martry, writing to Trypho, accused Jews of removing texts in the Old Testament pertaining to the then-future mission of the Messiah preaching and redeeming the dead souls in Hades/Sheol.
Another charge pertains to the fact that the Book of Mormon contains the Greek expression, "Alpha and Omega," and the French word, "Adieu." However, this charge ignores the fact that the Book of Mormon purports to be a translation. A purpose of a translation is to convey *meaning* not *words*. Furthermore, it stands to reason that the language into which the Book of Mormon is rendered is not the language from which, accorsing to its very onw claims, it was translated from. However, Ankerberg and Weldon are, seemingly, ignorant of this fact.
The authors also claim that the Book of Mormon mentions anachronistic coinage in Alma 11. However, the Book of Mormon text itself, notwithstaning the modern heading to the chapter, does not mention coins, but weights and measurements. If the Book of Mormon is to be said to contain anachronistic "coinage," the same must be said about the Bible, as shekel and gemah are mentioned in a monerary sense. However, as with the Book of Mormon, these were weights, not coins. The charge against the Book of Mormon represents nothing more than ethnocentricity. As someone trained in anthropology (as well as theology), this is a mistake that would relegate someone to the back of the class.
Much more could be said about the flaws in the text, but this should be suffice to show that this book is not designed to win over a Latter-day Saint audience, but its target audience are nothing more than the gullible who know next to nothing about Mormonism.
