Excellent History

This is the best history I've read on the LDS people and the founding of Utah. It is scholarly, yet uplifting and inspiring. I highly recommend this book.

Excellent history of the early Mormon experience in Utah

This is a great history of the Mormon settlement and colonization of Utah. Arrington's insights into the economics of the time, and Brigham Young's efforts to create a cooperative, even communal, society, are especially valuable.
