5Bravo! Finally an accessible and clear presentation of the changing geography and ethos of Christianity.
By C. Williams
The Changing World of Christianity is a timely and innovative book for both scholars and students alike. Compared to other works in this field, which typically fail to engage a wide variety of readers, Daughrity has succeeded in skillfully striking the right balance between breadth and depth. Indeed, it is accessible enough for those entering the field for the first time, yet can easily surprise a well-seasoned scholar with a wealth of up-to-date information and unique anecdotes from Daughrity's own field research and life experiences.

The organization and clarity of the book is especially deserving of praise. The separation of the chapters into geographic cultural blocks makes perfect sense and allows readers to easily be able to turn back to a section for later reference. Every chapter is designed to provide a solid foundation for understanding the various regions of the world. Daughrity accomplishes this by defining the region up for discussion, placing it in its proper historical context, giving a contemporary analysis, and finally supplying a few questions to the reader for further discussion.

The same praise could be extended to the maps and figures placed at the beginning of each chapter. These are an invaluable resource for offering a visual demonstration of the global phenomenon that has become World Christianity. It is simply impossible to pick up this book and not be convinced that the geography and ethos of Christianity has undergone significant transformation in the past century.

There is no doubt that Daughrity has a powerful and uncanny ability to bring this subject to life through his writing. For those teaching courses on World Christianity, this is a great book to replace outdated and disorganized texts. And for those coming to the subject for the first time--look no further because this is the one book you need on your shelf!

5An easy-to-read book on the global history of Christianity
By BobSmithCA
One does not need to be a religious scholar to read and understand this book. I read this book recreationally, and learned a great deal about my own religion. I was unaware, for example, that Christianity is the world's largest faith. I found it fascinating to trace Christianity from its roots in the Middle East, and study its history as it spread around the world. It was interesting to learn about the changing nature of Christianity in the eight world regions defined by the author. Dr. Daughrity provides ample statistics to support his research, without boring the reader with excessive . I particularly liked the "World Rankings 2010" page at the beginning of the book, and found myself referring to this single page again and again as I worked my way through each chapter of the book. This book was interesting and informative, and I will keep it as a reference for years to come.
