Yuck

The "Sealed Portion" is not consistent with the original Book of Mormon. It is fraud inspired from the great deceiver of all mankind. Given the fact that it is written as well as it is and tends to draw people away from Christ by implying organized religion and obedience to the commandments are not required for salvation.

I came across the "Sealed Portion" as well. I read Nemelka's testimony, and a siginificant portion of the "sealed portion." When deciding whether or not this is truly the work of God, one must determine whether the original Book of Mormon is the word of God. One cannot accept the "sealed portion" of the Book of Mormon as true without considering the original Book of Mormon to be true. With this in mind, I decided I would put it to the test set forth in Moroni 10:3-5 - I decided I would read and pray about it - trusting that the spirit would let me know whether it was in fact true. Upon reading (I did not read it in its entirety - only a little over half) and praying about it, several things stuck out to me almost immediately.
First, the title claims it is the "Final Testament of Jesus Christ" ... this claim is completely inconsistent with the Book of Mormon itself (see 2 Nephi 29: 12-14), which tells all who read it that the Jews will have the words of the Nephites, the Nephites will have the words of the Jews, and the Jews and the Nephites will have the words of the lost tribes ... Where are the words of the lost tribes if this is the "Final Testament of Jesus Christ?" Also, where in the scriptures is there an indication that Christ will no longer speak to man, except for when man is wicked and refuses to listen?
Second, according to the eye witnesses who handled the plates, about half to two-thirds of the plates were sealed. The Book of Mormon is approximately 779 pages. The "Sealed Portion" authored by Nemelka is approximately 668 pages. When one considers that Nemelka's work not only allegedly contains the sealed portion of the plates Joseph Smith did not translate, but also the 116 pages of lost manuscript (not part of the sealed portion) and a history of how Nemelka obtained and translated the "sealed portion," it becomes clear Nemelka's work falls significantly short. If this were truly a translation of the "sealed portion" of the Book of Mormon, it would not be 668 pages, but rather more than 779 pages.
Lastly, true prophets of God present the message of Jesus Christ to the world, not the message of John the Beloved, the Three Nephites, Moses, Joseph Smith, or any other man. Nemelka claims to have been visited by Joseph Smith, John the Beloved and the Three Nephites, and that he is presenting their message to the World. Like Nemelka, Joseph Smith claimed to be visited by numerous prophets of old. However, the key distinction is that Joseph Smith never claimed to be presenting any other message than the message of Christ and that what he did was the will of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. If Nemelka were a true prophet of God, he would not claim to be presenting the messages of other prophets, but rather the message of Christ himself. (see Revelation 19:20 - "for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." In other words, a true prophet will always testify of Jesus.)
I could go on but these points alone demonstrate that the "Sealed Portion" is not consistent with the teachings of Joseph Smith or the original Book of Mormon. It is either a cleverly disguised fraud or inspired from the great deciever of all mankind. Given the fact that it is written as well as it is and tends to draw people away from Christ by implying organized religion and obedience to the commandments are not required for salvation (coupled with the grace of Christ of course), I'm leaning towards it being inspired by the source of all lies. Who else would want mankind to believe that this is the "Final testament of Jesus Christ" thereby implying that He will no longer speak to man?

The Sealed Portion-Another Testament of Jesus Christ is the second part of the Book of Mormon, which millions of people throughout the world accept as the word of God along with the Bible. Joseph Smith, Jr. (1830), the founder of the Mormon faith, claimed to have received gold plates from an angel of God named Moroni. Though others have made similar claims before him, none has ever testified that he received the Urim and Thummim that was prepared by God to translate the plates, and none has made claim that he has received the exact same gold plates that were in Joseph Smith's possession-except for Christopher. It begins with the kingdom where the spirits of the children of men were first created, and continues through until the end of the millennium, when the earth will be restored to a state similar to the garden of Eden, and the planets will be prepared as the degrees of glory in the kingdom of God. The most accurate and precise account ever given of the life of Christ is contained within the pages, including his early years with his family, his youth, baptism, marriages, mission, and death. Moroni explains the atonement, the LDS temple endowment, and some of the hidden symbolism of the book of Revelation. He recounts the prophets Ubaid, Zarathustra, Antioch, Socrates, Sythipian, Mohammad, and Joseph Smith, Jr., among others. The histories of the Egyptians, Hittites, Babylonians, Romans, and Americans are also covered. Also given is the in-depth and beautiful description of Jesus' intercessory prayer among the Nephites and the Lamanites on the American continent. Along with the translation of the sealed portion, the first part of the gold plates that was translated by Joseph Smith, Jr. and subsequently lost by his scribe, Martin Harris, is also included in this extraordinary work. This part is known as the Book of Lehi (the lost 116-page manuscript). The full text of Joseph Smith's reported First Vision, in which he claims to have been visited by God the Father and Jesus Christ, is also included in the book. The reader is lead from blindness into the light as he or she discovers the truths written within these pages.
